Hi, we (Dave Carlson & Sean Dayton), are the Directors of Sudbury Music Academy! We have been longtime friends and music instructors for several years (in different cities). We decided to join forces by using our expertise and experience to start a new music school here in Sudbury, Ont. We are thrilled to be working together but more importantly providing quality music education to families across this great region.

At Sudbury Music Academy, we're committed to providing lessons that are Educational, Inspirational, and Fun! We're confident you will love our teachers, our teaching philosophy, and our atmosphere for learning!

When we started the Sudbury Music Academy, we set out to multiply our passion of how music should be taught -- by teachers who are talented, qualified, and who share our same philosophy of music. Our goal is that every student receives individual music instruction, tailored to their age, personality, and learning style. We carefully select teachers that will emulate this goal.

Dave Carlson has been teaching guitar for 10+ years all over the Sudbury area and in 2 local private schools. As a child, Dave always showed a keen interest in music. He took 5 years of piano lessons and from there, transitioned to learning the guitar for the next 5 years. He began playing guitar on the church worship team at age 13, and was in his first band playing for crowds of 500 at 16 years old. Since then he has gone on to perform on nationally broadcast TV, major festivals, recording studios, and has become a much sought-after guitar instructor. He has a passion for music and passing it onto the next generation.

Sean Dayton has toured across North America and performed in front of 250,000 people. He studied guitar at the Berklee College of Music and has been teaching for over 10 years. In 2000, he played guitar for Katy Perry (gospel artist Katy Hudson at the time) as well as Paul Baloche. As a solo artist, he's sold more than 10,000 CDs and won 1st place in the 2010 International Songwriting Competition. He and his wife have won multiple Canadian Gospel Music Awards including Inspirational Album of the Year and Seasonal Album of the Year in 2011.
